Loud, roaring

Hitting the rocks

Splashing the water

Unstable, restless

Striving to achieve

Its right, its love

Towards the land

Spreading the arms

To give a tight hug

To never let go

To be together forever

Land against the ocean

Quiet, silent

Keeping its cool

Sticking on its ground

Adamant, stable

Unaffected at all times

Its pride, its attitude

Against the wave

Pushing the wave away

On every attempt

To never come close

To never be one

Tired, fatigued

Wave loses its power

Roaring now just a scream

Only for itself to hear

Never gives up trying

Struggling as it shifts away

From the land, from its love

Incomplete which always remained

Golden teardrops all around

Wave bids the final good-bye

Just when the ocean swallows it

While the land remains unchanged

When I met myself.. (Happy Friendship Day)

In the mall when you see a gang of youngsters

Screaming, running around, holding hands

Scribbling on each others' hands, tees, and bags

Opening bottles to throw water on one another

Hiding behind the benches, the bins or the carts

You know you are missing something, someone

All of a sudden you see someone from the gang

With the same innocent smile, and the naughty eyes

For a moment you are struck with a lightning

You have yourself right in front of your eyes

Just a few years younger, just a little thinner

And you keep wondering, why did I ever change?

You remember those miss calls in the class

And the holi on the way to the railway station

The long walks that are covered in a minute today

The only thumbs up shared among five, sometimes more

The movies watched during college hours

The night Cricket while having group studies

The chocolate, the rose, the traditional days

The bands; yellow, pink, blue and one red

More the count, broader the smile

Why are these memories today so fade?

I was so complete when I had nothing

I was so happy when my friends were everything

Just then the same guy runs towards you

Wakes you from your train of memories

Asks you to take a picture of the gang

You smile and say, sure why not?

Approving the pictures, everyone thank you and leave

Then he runs back with a band, named for you..!

Recall..

I had stopped believing in God

But want to believe in Him once

I have never asked for any favor

But want to ask one for this once

If He can't let me be with you

At least give me the strength to forget you

If He can't give me life, put my body at rest

Than kill me on every day new

It is a habit, an addiction, a way of living

I am now in love with my own company

As that keeps me with you for time-being

But nonetheless is my favorite one

The one that I can commit over & over again

Raaste hazaar the par raah ek hi chuni

Saath tere chalne ka bass tha iraada

Ussi raah ki mod par aaj hu main tanha

Jaise pinjre mein kaid koi jungle ka parinda

Khwaishein kai thi par manzil ek hi chuni

Le aau tere liye duniya ki har khushi

Ab na koi khwaish rahi, na koi manzil

Na muskurahat rahi, mehengi ho gayi hasi

Pyaar mila sabse par maine ek tujhe chuna

Doston ki bheed mein tera hi saath paaya

Chhod diye dost, ye duniya bhi chhodi.. lekin

Iss tanhai mein humdum tu nazar na aaya

Taaron ki chamak mein chaand tu hi bana

Har taraf thi roshni, shaam ho ya savera

Kho gayi saari roshni tere door jaane se

Ab poonam ki raat mein bhi hota hai andhera

Kahani ki shuruvat na jaane kab hui

I was at the shore

The breeze was flowing

Reminding me of your touch

My face was glowing

Unknowingly, but willingly

I stepped in a bit

The small waves came running

And died at my feet

The wet mud got wetter

I scribbled on it

Your name followed by mine

Washed by water, but I didn’t quit

The sun was set

And the stars rose above

The half moon glowed

In the silver water below

The waves got higher

Now touched my knees

My heart was crying

Like a wave
