Parting

I ain’t sad to reach the end of the book
I am worried to leave the chapters behind
For those chapters would never be read again
For those chapters would never be same again

I don’t regret for being an imperfect person
I am scared to bury my favourite mistake
For the mistake brought me to life again
For the mistake brought me the smile again

Yet the sun will rise
Yet the stars will shine
New chapters would be read
New mistakes would be made
Something would still be amiss
I wouldn’t be ‘me’ again

Smiles,
Swapnil..

The Note

(To Future from Past in Present)

Dear Future,

It is okay to fall in love with the wrong person. It is okay to fall in love with someone who doesn’t love you back. It is okay to go out of the way and do something nice for someone who doesn’t value it. It is okay to take emotional decisions even if they end up being not so good ones. It is okay to commit mistakes even if they lead to serious consequences. It is okay to cry even when you know there is no one around to lend you a shoulder. It is okay to stop talking to someone if you feel that’s the right thing to do, however close you’re to that person. It is okay to leave the doors to your heart open even if it means ending up with another heartbreak.

This is what makes you. This is who you are. Change any of the above, and you will lose your identity. Learn, improvise, but don’t change. Consider each thunderstorm as an opportunity to dance in the rain. When it is over, you will find yourself refined, redefined. There is no happily ever after; in fact, there is no ever after other than right now. Today is the ever after that you dreamed of when you were younger. Only you can make it happy. Trust me, you can never be happy if you try to be someone else. So, just be yourself. With all the flaws and the weaknesses. Value the good things that are with you. Don’t let the not so good things overpower them.

Smile. For no particular reason. Just because it feels nice. Because it is very contagious. Don’t do anything the you feel is not right. Don’t be anywhere you feel that you don’t belong. Take the road less taken. Commit new mistakes. Learn more from them. Travel often. Every trip reveals your character more and more. Things that you never knew about yourself. Love, because you can. In a way that  is far better and more giving than many can. It deserves to be let out than to die within. Don’t forget to love yourself. You can’t expect anyone else to do what you yourself don’t. In fact, don’t expect even if you do. From anyone, for anything. Giving gives more pleasure than receiving. Always.

Be kind. Be humble. Be sensitive. Be caring. Be loving. Learn from everyone, young and old. Share, what you have and what you know. Be strong. Be bold. Don’t cheat. Be a leader. Forgive; at times, yourself. Have no regret. Have no remorse. Express. You should be your only competitor. That automatically rules out ego, jealousy, envy. Take risks. Take the plunge. If you sail through, you will achieve what you want. If you fail, you will be prepared better for the next one. Spend time with nature. Many times the answers are around us, but we are too busy to notice. Live. One moment at a time. Life is the most beautiful Present that one can ever get.

Love,
Past

The Mask

There comes a day
When I don’t see you around
I just keep looking
To find you nowhere

Baffled, perplexed
I wonder
How can you vanish?
Into thin air

Was it ever you?
Or my imagination?
Was it a dream?
Did I just wake up?

Did you wear a mask then?
Or are you wearing one now?
Are you trying to hide from me?
Or hide me from them?

Thousands of doubts
Run in my head
But this time around
You’re not here to resolve them

There comes another day
Time to wear the mask again
Forget the grin, put back the smile
I promise, they’ll like you again!

Smiles,
Swapnil..
